Excellent product

I have been using Old English Scratch Remover for several decades (have hardwood floors). If there is a better product--fairly unlikely--I hope that I will hear about it. It does exactly what it says it will do: covers up scratches. A year or so later, after normal wear on the floor, the scratches will show up again. So you just put some more Old English Scratch Remover down on it (doesn't take much effort). Floor looks new again.I like this particular product so much that I chose to give it as a "floor-warming" gift to a friend who had just replaced her old carpet with a new oak-hardwood floor.

Old English® Furniture Polish: Scratch Cover for Light Wood 8 OZOld English Furniture Polish: Scratch Cover for Dark Wood 8 OZSCRATCH COVER FOR LIGHT WOOD 8 OZ.This is the best product we have ever used for restoring a wood furniture finish appearance and we have been using for years and highly recommend it. It soaks into the wood and provides both a better look and better protection for wood that has been physically damaged or distressed. Old English Scratch Cover is the next best thing to refinishing as it can restore lost warmth to the look of the wood. For bad damage, we have found that it works best to generously apply and let it soak into the wood for awhile before cleanning off the excess. Similar to the way you would apply a stain. Even though the liquid is quite dark, we find that it does not over power lighter woods. We do use both the dark and light products and actually bought more for family members to use. Be careful though, it will stain carpet and your fingers so you need to take care when applying it.

Can make a difference

I bought this because of a large number of scratches on my medium brown stained oak floor. Here is what it does well:1. Change the tone of the wood from grayish tinge back to brown. As the wood gets older, the grain begins to show some age. This stuff is great to make it seem like new. I actually covered the entire floor with it and then put a coat of Minwax 60950 32-Ounce High Gloss Reviver Hardwood Floor Restoreron my floor. The combination worked really well to take a slightly dingy floor back up to new looking2. Cover small scratches. It does the job and covers up the small scratches fairly well. You can still see them if you kneel down on the floor but from a standing position you can't tell.Here's where I was a little disappointed:- It doesn't cover large scratches well. I had a few large scratches and it covered them but the stain essentially made them darker than the surrounding wood. I had to do a fair amount of buffing to make it blend a little better but it's still noticeable.Overall, it did the job though and I'll be buying more when this batch runs out.
