Looks Deceiving

I don't like to leave negative feedback; and typically do not. While it is negative due to my perception of the product that I (didn't?) received, the bed itself is probably great for most applications.Due to the description, including "Platform" and the photo showing a mattress seemingly sitting atop the bed frame, I assumed that this would work fantastically for my new memory foam mattress.When it arrived, I was disappointed to see that there are only 5 thin horizontal slats that are meant to hold a boxspring/whatever. Nothing sits on TOP of the frame either. It's sunken down inside, so if you're looking to put a mattress inside, make sure it's more than 8.5" thick, or you'll be level with the sides.My quick solution, due to timing, lack of interest in sending it back, or making a fuss because there was a lack of detail: I went to the hardware store and got some 3/4" MDF to fit down inside. This will rigidly hold my mattress and seems to be doing the job so far.Now, for those of you who are looking for exactly what I just described: the bed is pretty simple to assemble: not a lot of instructions, but nowhere for you to get confused. If the bracket fits: it goes there. I'm an Engineer, and my wife checked the instructions to make sure I was "doing it right." It doesn't take a degree to get it. However, as critical as Engineers tend to be, the offset of the holes didn't quite match up with the brackets. During assembly, don't fully tighten your bolts attaching the bracket to the headboard until AFTER you've started the bolts in the holes for the sides.Also, the packaging came missing one small screw that holds the legs on the horizontal slats. Luckily, I'm an oddball and tend to keep leftovers from other furniture kits, and had one that fit perfectly.For the $465 (including shipping) I spent on it, it's actually quite a good deal. But note that you won't be sitting back against the 'sloped' portion of the headboard unless you have a boxspring and mattress that raise you up that far. With our configuration, I'm quite literally sitting straight up in bed.Best of luck.

Nice bed, but it is NOT A PLATFORM

I am a little ticked off right now, and feeling generous giving it four stars. It is a nice quality material and looks good. Took about an hour to put it together. Came in two big boxes but took well over two weeks to ship (truck broke down, apparently). It is a frame bed and not a platform so now I have to go get a box spring and plywood since I bought a memory foam 10" mattress for it. Not happy. Description should be changed.

Great for the Price

I bought this bed elsewhere and was really pleasantly surprised at the quality. I've been looking for an upholstered CA King bed for a while and the price swayed me. I am really happy with the purchase. It is a VERY sturdy bed - does not move or rock or anything. It's also decent quality fabric- especially for the price. It is not a smooth satin or cotton, has a sturdier, rough texture - but isn't exactly scratchy. My two year old often ends up in bed with us and she has never complained about it being scratchy. The padding is good and the headboard has a slight sloping back towards the wall.Overall, the quality is comparable with pieces I've bought at Crate and Barrell and Pottery Barn.
