Product Description
Daddy Van's All Natural Lavender and Sweet Orange Oil Beeswax Furniture Polish is perfect for cleaning and protecting wooden kitchen cabinets. "Hi, I wanted to let you know that I recently ordered a tin of your sweet orange furniture polish. Wow! I totally love your product. What an amazing difference it has made to all the wood furniture in my home. Not only does it smell terrific but I can see it is doing so much good for the wood. I had to let you know that I'm now completely hooked on polishing and buffing my furniture with my Daddy Van's. I've even turned it into a verb - for example I'll point out to my husband that I "daddy-vanned the china cabinet" or "I'm going to daddy van that table tomorrow.". You have created a fabulous product and it has given me so much pleasure to see my crummy semi-antiques glowing with a new found beauty. I have just ordered another tin (lavender, this time.) I've recently had a bit of a health issue so it has rocked to be able to feel useful and busy "daddy-vanning" my house. Good for me and good for my furniture! Thanks a lot for making such a great product." Sincerely, Diane S., Durham, NC

This stuff is a wonderful, natural product. I used it on my mid-century Heywood Wakefield pieces and they look like new. Also used on an old nightstand that's badly in need of refinishing and it looks 100% better. With slightly more effort than spray on junk that does nothing to actually treat the wood, you get a beautiful and moisture-resistant finish that lasts. Water beads up on it like on a car with a wax job! I can't recommend it more highly. The lavender & sweet orange smells great by the way. It's the only one I've tried but I'm sure they're all just as good.

The price is quite high for such a small amount of product. I initially purchased this to use with Annie Sloan chalk paint. When it arrived, I loved the smell so much that I decided to try it on a few pieces of furniture. I was not at all impressed with the result - however, I DO prefer a shiny finish, which this product does not produce (as noted by the previous reviewer). Not only was there a dull finish but some of the imperfections in my darker wood furniture looked to be more pronounced and enhanced after using this product, not so much on lighter wood. My kitchen table is a light-colored oak and has some scratches, marks and wear. It appeared to look slightly better after applying this, but not enough to justify the price. Also, it leaves a tacky film behind that seems to attract dust (although I did use a lot). I have 2 identical end tables - I used this product on only one, and after a few days, the table I used this product on needed to be dusted again vs. the one I used pledge on. For my regular furniture needs, I think I will stick with pledge. In terms of the chalk paint, I LOVE this product. I apply this after 1 or 2 coats of chalk paint and then sand/distress the finish. It looks and works fantastic for that purpose and actually costs less than the Annie Sloan wax. It has the consistency of margarine and spreads easily with a rag. It is not an entirely clear wax and does tend to darken the color and makes a white paint look yellowed. Since that is what I was looking for, it is perfect for my needs, but may not be the result that everyone wants. Plus, I absolutely LOVE the smell of the orange with just a subtle hint of lavender. The smell is strong, but not overpowering or artificial- just natural and pleasant. I gave it three stars because I did not like the way it worked as a furniture polish, especially for the price. As a product to use with chalk paint, it is definitely a 5 star product in every way.**UPDATED** 4 days after writing the above review, Laura Kalkman, Founder and President of Daddy Van's left a comment (see below). Now that I have been using this product correctly, the results are nothing short of amazing. I have used it on approx 20 different wood finishes over the past few weeks, here are my observations:- The consistency is like creamy margarine in a tub. You do not need to press into the container to get it onto the rag, just lightly brush or wipe a clean rag over the top until you have just the slightest bit noticeable on the rag - that is all you need. I initially scooped a healthy dollop onto my rag, which was about 200x more than is required. The excess resulted in the tacky residue mentioned above which than became a dust magnet. A teeny-tiny bit goes a very long way.- After rubbing the wax over the surface to be treated, you must buff, buff, buff and buff some more. It takes some elbow grease, but the results are well worth it. You cannot go by your eyes to see that all of the wax has been removed - you must go by feel. Rub your fingers lightly over the wood, they should glide smoothly without any drag. If you feel any resistance, keep buffing using a completely clean rag.- This product will not add shine to a surface. What it will do is bring out the original finish and natural beauty of a piece and make it look nearly as good as it did the day it was finished. It will not make a Bob's wood table into an Ethan Allen table, but it will almost completely restore it to it's original look. If the wood was shiny and glossy when it was made, the original glossy finish will come back. If the piece was shiny and glossy from years of applying pledge, it will remove the years of pledge buildup and restore the original matte finish. I say "almost completely restore it to it's original look" above because it will not remove gouges, deep scratches and other "damage" on the wood, and you should not expect it to, it's a polish, not a refinisher.Based on my experiences using this product correctly, it is my new favorite! The smell is soooo wonderful, it's nearly addicting. No fake citrus-y smell, just naturally pleasant orange with a slight hint of lavender. By far, the best smelling polish available. And, when used correctly, this tiny can will last forever, making this a very cost effective and reasonably priced product. I have an entire shelf of various cleaners and polishes including products by Howard, Old English, Parker and Bailey, Guardsman, Weiman, Bona, Lundmark - you name it - this stuff blows them all away. I have even used this on my wood floor and, if completely buffed out, it does not make the floor slick or slippery, just beautiful. My thanks to Laura for her quick response to my review and immensely helpful suggestions. This product is fantastic and the company (obviously) really cares about it's customers. Try it, you won't regret it!

I've used both the Lavender and Lavender/Sweet Orange beeswax products. I'm thrilled with both because it makes the furniture and cabinets look rich and beautiful! I don't know how else to describe it other than to say the wood just glows as if lit from within. It doesn't produce that high gloss/lacquered look, but definitely produces shine and brings out the wood grain. My mother used it on blond cabinetry in both a bathroom and kitchen where the finish was removed due to water damage and improper cleaners (Clorox wipes, Yikes!). Due to the damage, she applied then let the product sink in for several hours before buffing it out. Afterwards the wood from the water damaged section looked better than the wood from the non-damaged section, so she finished all of the cabinets. The results are beautiful. You can't tell where the damage occurred. Better yet, the water now beads up on the cabinets preventing future damage. By the way, my mother is 70-years old and is now a Daddy Van's fanatic. She has set a goal to "Daddy Van" all of her wood antiques plus any other wood she finds whether it is in her house or not. She and I both agree the products are a pleasure to use not only because of the scents, but it also makes your hands soft. I hope they never stop making this stuff! On another note about application, I have to agree with other reviewers that a little goes a long way. Hence, a very cost effective product. If the wood has a tacky feel after your done, too much wax was used and too much wax remains on the wood, which will cause dust to collect. I made this mistake in the beginning. Just get a clean terry cotton cloth and buff until the surface doesn't feel tacky. Also, I pre-clean the surface with Murphy's Oil soap (on varnished surfaces only) and let dry before first applying the Daddy Van's. I know the sweet orange oil is known for dissolving grease, but I like to "Daddy Van" a clean surface.
