Poor lamination and broken drawer

The wood laminate on the sides of the shelves is poorly glued. One of my shelves had a chip in the lamination, and the glue was deteriorated on another shelf such that the lamination was flapping.The assembly requires a great deal of screwing wood screws into the bottoms of shelves without any pilot holes. In two places, the screws poked through the top of shelves and left visible bumps.The drawers come already in their slots with the handles inside the drawer. One of the drawers came out immediately, but the runner inside the unit was broken (pre-attached screw had stripped out the wood.) The other drawer was extremely stuck, I eventually got it out by fashioning a coat hanger into a hook.Overall, I like the look of this unit and returning furniture is an incredible pain, so I will be keeping the unit. I repaired the drawer and laminate, and turned the bumps to the back.I am quite disappointed.

Damaged on delivery and needs better drawer rail system... but a good product overall

I bought this product at a great price but when it arrived it was unfortunately, damaged. The corners were cracked, one of the drawers was cracked in the middle and one of the drawer rails was unattached. I called the manufacturer who blamed the shipper. The shipper "Cymex", asked for photo's to verify the damages and after a few days they sent me a new replacement. Considering that the whole shipment weights around 120lbs, I was grateful that I did not have to send the damaged Console back to Cymex.The replacement arrived but was also damaged (ugh!) but I was able to take the best parts from both new and previous, to create a single working Media Console.Unfortunately, the drawer rail system on this product was still poorly installed. Half the screws were not even secure. What I did was unscrew the rails, add wood glue, resecured the rails. Once the glue dried, the rail system was very secure. I don't understand why they don't use wood glue but thats the fix I used and it works well.Although the majority of this product is made out of particle board or other like material, once put together it looks very nice and many people couldn't tell that it was not made out of real wood. Wood is being used for the drawer box, the drawer rail system and as extra support for the structure. The shelves are not made of wood.The metal frame was easy to install but had scratchs on the edges. I just made sure that those with scratchs were positioned in the rear and not the front.It took about 35 minutes for two people to complete the installation using the provided L tool and screws. I find the product very secure and it holds a large screen LCD TV.3 stars for the product and 1 star for the replacement resulting in a good looking Media Console.

Perfect!

This is a great piece and goes perfectly with the rest of my oak unit. I was so shocked that it shipped one day and was on my front porch the next. It was also very easy to put together and is a very solid piece for the price. It has made a beautiful addition to our entertainment experience!
